Code of Ethics

All EastWest Reiki Association Practitioners have agreed to the following:

  1. Abide by a vow of confidentiality. Any information that is discussed within the context of a Reiki session is confidential between the receiver and the Practitioner.

  2. Provide a safe and comfortable area for Reiki sessions and work to provide an empowering and supportive environment.

  3. Always ask for permission to give Reiki. Treat the receiver with the utmost respect and honor.

  4. Before the initial Reiki session, provide a brief oral or written description of what the practitioner will be doing during the session.

  5. Be respectful of all others’ Reiki views and paths.

  6. When speaking to others about the value of Reiki, explain that sessions do not guarantee a cure, nor are they a substitute for qualified medical or professional care. Reiki is part of an integrated healing or wellness program.

  7. Suggest a consultation or referral to qualified licensed professionals (medical doctor, licensed therapist, etc.) when appropriate.

  8. Never diagnose or prescribe. Never suggest a change in any prescribed treatment or interfere with treatment of a licensed health care provider.

  9. Never ask the receiver to disrobe (unless in the context of a licensed massage therapy session). Be sensitive to the boundary needs of individuals. Do not touch the genital area or breasts.

  10. Actively practice self-treatment and contemplation of the Reiki Precepts to embody and fully express the essence of Reiki in everything that we do.
